Teens Going for Gold Network Accelerates Transition; Announces New Board, Board Chair

Idayat Hassan, a seasoned lawyer, global leader and former Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development (West Africa), became the new chairman of Teens Going For Gold Network’s Board of Directors on February 1, 2025. This appointment seeks to leverage her expertise and experience in peacebuilding and transitional justice to steer the organization to success as a champion for peace education and sustainable people and development across Nigeria.

Expressing her delight at the appointment, Pelumi Obisesan-Aina, Founder of Teens Going for Gold Network, said, “Ms Idayat Hassan has had significant experience working on issues around peacebuilding in Nigeria, and she is widely published on these issues. She brings her unique wealth of experience gathered from engaging with stakeholders in civil society and the government on these issues.”

Board Reshuffle

The rest of the Board also got a new look as Green Advocacy for Conflict and Resilience Building (GACRB) West Africa’s Executive Director, Prof. Mala Mustapha, joined the Board. At the same time, Dolapo Osuntuyi, Pelumi Obisesan-Aina, Waheed Awonuga, and Strategic Human Resources and Operations Development Leader Dele Olomide complete the new-look Board.

Speaking on her hopes for the new look board, Obisesan-Aina said, “We decided to revise the board to reflect our transition and give us the right tools to contribute significantly to tangible peacebuilding across Nigeria.”
